CAP Space Analysis: New York Jets
The New York Jets come into 2021 with about $70 million in cap room. Let’s investigate what the future fantasy implications are and what moves they can make with this cap room.
With the draft capital the Jets have this year, the first question for their new coach Robert Saleh to address is, is Darnold the answer? He is only 24 heading into this season and has his 5th-year option still available to keep his low cost. They only have 31 players under contract in 2022 with $135 million in cap room so they can take some shots this Free Agency period to fully rebuild the team. They can add another $28 million in cap room if they extend Darnold or up to $30 million if they Trade him, for around $100 million in cap space either way.
