Week 1 - DFS Values & Prop Bets
In the coming weeks, we will explore values at all positions for DFS while also discussing prop bets involving those we highlight. We will not mention the big names who will be at the high end (price-wise) but will be diving down the list to see how you could afford some of these names that should outproduce their weekly cost. (All prices are based on Draft Kings.)
For prop bets, our Partners at Thrive Fantasy have the best bets around. Use promo code FFScouts for an INSTANT match of your deposit at signup. You deposit $100, Thrive will match it 100%! (Prop bets will be the blue links.)
Trevor Lawrence vs Houston Texans $6200 (Andy) Hurts vs Lawrence Completions
Could it be risky to include a rookie QB right off the bat? Indeed, it could. However, many expect the Texans to finish dead last this season, and what could be better to start the year than a matchup against them for the first overall pick.
Matt Ryan vs Philadelphia Eagles $6000 (Andy) Ryan vs Tannehill Pass YDs
This game could have the potential to be a shootout. I like both quarterbacks in this game and with a potential breakout of Kyle Pitts adding to the offense which already boasts Calvin Ridley. I like Ryan’s chances of scoring well.
Jalen Hurts vs Atlanta Falcons $6400 (Andy & Phil) Hurts vs Lawrence Completions
As noted above, this could be a high-scoring game. The Falcons were not great defensively last season, and with Hurts having a safe rushing upside, he will be a good value. If you have been following the Fantasy Scouts, our own Matt Nein has been the one-man hype train for Hurts since he was drafted.
Jameis Winston vs Green Bay $5200 (Phil)
Jameis' first start for the Saints comes against a Green Bay D that on paper looks good but could be without multiple players. Winston excelled in the preseason taking the top job from Taysom Hill and could be a great value play.
James Robinson vs Houston Texans $6400 (Andy)
The Texans were brutal against the run last season coming in 32nd. There should be plenty of opportunities for Robinson during this game.
Raheem Mostert vs Detriot Lions $5800 (Andy)
Now, the 49ers did draft Sermon, but coming into week one I would be surprised if Mostert isn’t the lead back against the Lions. Detroit was in a similar position to the Texans last season with their weak run defense, and that is an excellent place to start in my opinion, when creating your line-up.
Chase Edmonds vs Titans $4600 (Andy)
Edmonds could be slightly riskier than the other two. James Conner could easily steal some work from him, and perhaps the goal-line carries as well. However, it is excellent value for a potential starting/lead running back.
Melvin Gordon vs NYG $5300 (Phil) TD Over/Under .5
Denver wants to establish the run this year to keep their offense moving and allow their Defense to be on the field less. With Teddy running the show short passes and runs will be in order.
Chase Claypool vs Buffalo Bills $5600 (Andy & Phil) TD Prop Over/Under .5
The matchup isn’t the best here for the Steelers in week one, but the fact that Claypool is the third-rated wide receiver at $600 less than Juju and $700 less than Diontae Johnson combined with his touchdown upside makes him a value for me.
Corey Davis vs Carolina Panthers $4900 (Andy & Phil). Corey Davis Receptions
The amount of targets Zach Wilson was giving Corey Davis during the preseason makes him an attractive selection for daily fantasy teams. Like Claypool, it is not the best matchup, but the targets should be there.
Michael Pittman Jr vs Seattle Seahawks $4100 (Andy)
Going through the players around the $4000-$5000 mark, I was stunned to see Pittman as low as this. TY Hilton will not be there and Pittman should have the opportunity to take over the target leader role for his team. If his cost stays the same, he could be a regular feature on these pieces …
Jerry Jeudy vs New York Giants $4800 (Phil)
While Jeudy suffered from drops last year, this offseason with Teddy under center he has been spectacular catching nearly everything thrown his way. Teddy is likely to keep passes short and quick allowing Jeudy to rack up lots of YAC.
George Kittle vs Detroit Lions $6300 (Andy) TD Prop Over/Under .5
Why is Kittle in here? He’s a stud tight end. Yes, that is correct. However, we are talking about values here, and he is $2000 less than Travis Kelce. I feel I will have a lot of Kittle this week.
Jonnu Smith vs Miami Dolphins $4100 (Andy)
Hunter Henry is currently listed as questionable, so should he be limited in any way, this could allow Jonnu Smith to play above his value and be a potential safety net for rookie quarterback Mac Jones.
Gerald Everett vs Indianapolis Colts $3400. (Andy)
At the tight end position, you are looking for touchdown upside, and Everett could provide that. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett will get their targets, but Russell Wilson threw six touchdowns to the tight end position last season, and Everett can pick up some targets from his QB.
Zack Ertz vs Atlanta Falcons $3800 (Phil)
Reports from camp are that Ertz looks like the Ertz of old that catches everything thrown his way and along with Goedert have emerged as Hurt’s favorite targets. Goedert is $1k more currently and he and Ertz will likely see similar production against the horrid Falcons D.
Broncos vs Giants $3300 (Andy & Phil)
Daniel Jones could provide scoring opportunities due to turnovers and Barkley could be on a snap-count.
Vikings vs Bengals $3000 (Andy)
The Vikings D should be better this year and they will be facing a returning Joe Burrow fresh off an injury.
Chargers vs Washington $3200 (Andy)
Which Ryan Fitzpatrick will we get this season? He is prone to multiple turnovers when things go badly.
