Week 2: Buy/Sell Column

Twitter: @FF_Worm

Week two is officially in the books and it was a wild one. There were plenty of fantasy points scored and while some were expected, many, were not. Which players are for real? And which just had a fluke week? Will the booms come back down to Earth? Will the duds stay down in the dumps? This is the second article of the weekly buy and sell series. This series will take a look at some players we should be buying and others we should be selling.

Buys

  • Jonnu Smith – TE, New England Patriots

It’s been a rather slow start for sleeper candidate, Jonnu Smith. When Mac Jones won the starting gig, the fantasy community, myself included, thought it would be wheels up for Smith. After signing a monster contract with the New England Patriots in the offseason, it was evident the Patriots wanted Smith to be heavily involved in the offense. That has not been the case thus far.

In two games, Smith has turned 10 targets into nine catches for 70 yards and no touchdowns. Furthermore, he played just 73% of offensive snaps in week one and 50% in week two. These are not encouraging numbers for someone we put into our starting lineups.

Buy the dip. Take advantage of the lack of production from Smith. Now is the perfect opportunity to send out some offers to a concerned manager. Smith is too good of an athlete to not feature in an offense that lacks pass catchers. Better days are ahead for this tight end.
